H2B and I visited Michael Balo's residential office last Sunday to check the work of his team, Blissful House Digital. We just wanted to see samples of their shots and albums and we really weren't planning on booking him that day. Gusto lang talaga namin mag-inquire dun sa ongoing July promo nila kase ang daming inclusion at pasok sa budget:
Michael was nice and accommodating naman. He showed us sample albums and pinakita nya din yung photography styles nila pati sample SDE's. He mentioned nga that we're lucky he was available last Sunday because he rarely finds time to meet with clients on a weekend. For the promo package we inquired for, sabe niya they have limited slots lang daw talaga for it and yung last 2 slots eh may naka-pencil book na. Medyo pressure lang. Haha! He discussed the details of the package and raised some good points naman:
1. 2 wedding photographers are enough. I've read from forums na mas maganda daw na may 3 photogs para mas maraming shots pero sabe ni Michael, kami din ang mahihirapan kase from each photographer, aabot na ng 1k+ shots. Tapos the couple has to select 300-500 wedding shots lang na ibabalik sa kanila for editing. So kung 3 photogs, pwedeng umabot ng 3k-4k shots na pagpipilian at feeling ko din baka mahirapan lang ako at matagalan kame lalo pumili ng shots.
2. He showed us sample shots from the recent weddings he covered and informed us what his style and brand is. He's not much into details or scenery shots and he prefers to take pictures of the faces and expressions of his subjects. Di naman pwedeng iha-hire namin sya tapos gusto namen style ni ganto o style ni ganyan o kaya icocompare sa iba. Kaya nga kukunin mo yung isang photog kase you like his/her style which I do respect naman. Pwedeng magbigay ng pegs or shots that you want pero you can't dictate a photographer all the way kase it's his personal art too.3. Convenient talaga yung tie-up nya with his make-up artist wife, MV Balo. I've seen some of her work na din and at par sya sa mga madalas na make-up artists na nababanggit sa mga wedsites. Convenient sa kanila kase gamay na nila pa'no magtrabaho ang isa't-isa so di na magaalangan sa time management lalo na't nasa same place lang sila which is of course, super convenient na din sa'men. :) (Yes, madalas sila mag-tie up promo, pero based sa archives nila, tumataas din yung rate ng promo packages nila. So if you're sure about them, book na. :) )
We've attended about 4 wedding fairs this year and I haven't found a photo/video supplier with the "this is it" feeling (as what I've heard and read so many times sa mga forums. lol). To be honest, wala ring super compelling force ako'ng naramdaman for BHD though di ko lang talaga sila maalis sa isip ko lalo na nung nilabas nila yung July promo. :D I kept glancing at H2B during the meeting, looking for signs if he likes what he's hearing from Michael. Nakita ko din naman sa kanya na ok na siya and he was even willing to pay upfront the required 30% DP. Kaso since it was a Sunday, sarado ang banko so we were planning to pay it on Monday instead, pero sabi nga ni Michael, maganda na kung gawin na that day para madiscuss na din nya yung contract sa'men kase kailangan nga in-person yung discussion, hinatid nya kame sa pinakamalapit na BPI so we can withdraw the payment for DP. Ok naman yung transaction and he did discuss the contract in detail.
Kahit medyo matagal (3 hours kame sa bahay nila. haha), I did appreciate na nagkwento siya ng mga experiences nya with weddings. Kumbaga guide na rin sa kanya at sa'men para mas maging maayos yung flow ng shoot sa wedding day. Kase I think some suppliers don't share a lot of info sa clients nila kaya minsan nagkakagulatan sila on the day ng event mismo kase may mga bagay na hindi nadiscuss. Sabi din ni H2B, nagustuhan nya yung pagiging particular ni Michael pagdating sa timetable. Pareho kase kame na as much as possible hinde nale-late at walang nasasayang na time. :)
So that's the story of how we booked Blissful House Digital. :D

> Ang ganda ng white Ford Everest nila. Natetempt nga akong magtanong kung pwede bang yun na lang ang bridal car ko kase wala akong planong kumuha ng bridal car. lol
> Ang dami nilang pet dogs and cats sa bahay! Cute. :D
> MV was at home pero we weren't able to meet her that day kase she wasn't feeling well. Maybe next time. :)
> Actually, hindi ako masyadong sold sa works ng video team (JJCA Videography) nila. May magaganda, merong ok lang. Pero at the discounts we were getting, I can't really ask for more. hehe And it's still a year to go before our wedding so I'm sure mag-iimprove pa sila lahat lalo. :)
> ANG LAPIT NILA SA BAHAY NAMEN. Their house is literally 5 minutes away from our house. So sobrang easy kulitin si Michael kung may kailangan ako sa kanila or may kailangan sila sa'ken. :)
> About the clause in their contract regarding back-up photographers, naintindihan ko naman yung stand ni Michael regarding that. I learned that he was a part of Imagine Nation before and based on his experience, nagback-up photographer na din siya at may tendency talaga na magka-ilangan pag dalawang team na pro ang kinuha mo at pwede pang umabot sa point na magkaron ng hostility between them kase syempre they both want to get good shots of you pero they have different styles. Ok lang naman daw kung may kamag-anak/friend ka na may DSLR na gustong makisingit sa shoot pero it's your risk to take na din kung may mga pictures ka na sa camera ka ng kamag-anak mo nakatingin instead sa official photog mo.
